Drop Shadow in MS Paint
Uses MS Paint | It is Easy as Pie | Written by Shalane
As we continue to prove to the world that MS Paint is quite a useful tool, we introduce the drop shadow text. This very quick and easy trick and spiff up your text when you are limited to paint.
Step One
Choose your font and a color scheme. I am going to do a black/grey one. Select your light color by using the color palette found at the bottom of the window.
Step Two
Using the text tool, or the "A" button, write the word you would like to be drop-shadowed. This first one should be in the lighter color. Repeat the step again using the dark color.
Step Three
Use the selection tool, or the dotted rectangle found at the top of the toolbar, to drag the darker word over the light one. Move it over until it makes a drop shadow or 3D look the way you want it to be. See some examples in figure 1.
Common Problems
1.This is a very simple process but you may run into a few problems if you are not especially familiar with MS Paint.
2.Make sure you have opacity OFF and your background color of the image as the same as your background color on your color palette.
3.If you cannot seem to edit your font type or size, go to View > > Text Toolbar and make sure it is checked. You should then see a text selection window when using the text tool.
Afterword
We hope that this quick little MS Paint trick will prove to be a useful skill for you to use in many situations.
