Ah, so you want to add a maker to your site? Well I will guide you through making either a button maker, an avatar maker, or any other type of maker. Makers are great for users who don't have the resources or really the know-how to do so. I hope by the end of this little tutorial that you will be able have a wonderful maker!
Button Maker
You want to add a button maker you your site, eh? Well first you need to make some base images. For button makers, you are going to want to have images that are 88x31 and/or 88x15 since those are the common sizes. You may choose to do other sizes also, but they aren't needed. You should have at least 10-15, but more are always preferred. You may also want to make some template frames to go over to decorate, but these are just extras. If you make templates, you need to make sure they are transparent where you want the base image to show.
Avatar Maker
If you want to add an avatar maker to your site, you will need some avatar base images. The most common size is 100x100px. You may also consider doing 50x50 or 60x60. You should have at least 10-15, but more are always preferred. You may also want to make some template frames to go over to decorate, but these are just extras. If you make templates, you need to make sure they are transparent where you want the base image to show.
Blinkie Maker
Blinkie makers are more difficult and are very time consuming. You will need to make very small blocks of different colors and have pixel images. You can get free pixels by using the neopet chat symbols! make sure to only use your blocks. They should be no bigger than 7x7px. They can easily be made using paint. These also require animation so you may also want a tutorial on animating if you have this.
Text
You need to decide if you are going to make images for each letter or if you are going to just use a simple font. If you use a font, sometimes it isn't as pretty, but you will need to spend lots of time making transparent images if you use images. There are many benifits to the images so I would take the step if you find the time. If you have regular text, you may want to have both white and black fonts.
Instructions
When you add a maker to your site, you are going to want to have instructions on how to use it. Make sure you talk about dragging them into the "make here" place and also about using the prnt scrn key to take a screen shot and then cropping it into paint. Instructions should be clear while not being too descriptive and long.
Using Code
This code is originally from DynamicDrive.com but has been edited by me for use as a maker. You may not remove the credit for either of us. There are a few differnt parts within the code you need to understand. The draggable items will have a class known as "drag" attached to them. Things below eachother go on top. For example, if I have the codes for text first, the images below will go over the text. So you want to keep them in the order you want to use them. Feel free to play around with the code to add additonal sections or to make it into a spiffy layout! I have used h1 tags for the sections, but feel free to use any heading you'd like.
The Code
Here is the code for the maker. Please keep the credit at the bottom.
