So how do you download fonts? And where can you find them? This is for Windows XP.

Choose a Font.
There are tons of different places that you can find fonts to download. Sometimes you will find them at personal sites with a personal collection of favorites or you can find them at large sites that have collections of thousands of different fonts. I recommend Dafont or 1001 Fonts. I use them and have never had any issues with viruses or anything like that. Although scanning for viruses is always recommended. There are thousands of fonts to choose from. Just pick one to get started. Find a font from those sites and open up the page where you can download it.

Downloading & Installing
Download your selected font. Save it in a location that you know where it will be. Now unzip it using winzip or your typical unzipping program. Open up the newly unzipped file. Now that you've done that, open up your control panel. On Windows XP this is found under start. There will be a folder called "fonts" with the letter "A" on it. Open that up to a full window. Now take the folder window that has you extracted font in it. Make it smaller than a full window and open so you can see the fonts folder below it. Just select the font file and drag it into the fonts folder. It will have a window for a brief minute that says "Installing Font". It should only take about 30 seconds to install.

Using Your Downloaded Fonts
Now that you have downloaded the font and installed it, you can use it! You can use it on paint, PSP, notepad, word, or any other program! Now you can spiff up your graphics! Download tons to have a lot of variety.I hope this tutorial helped you!

Author's Notes
One of my favorite things to do is download new fonts. They really make the difference in a graphic. Even if you have only MS paint to use, using the right font could make it look better!
